Where water is missingso are children’s healthand future
In Uganda, more than 80% of the rural population has no access to safe drinking water. It is often the children, and girls above all, who must walk for kilometres to fetch it, giving up school and putting at risk not only their health but also their safety, exposed to violence and abuse along the way. Ensuring clean water means protecting their wellbeing and their right to grow, study and build a future.

Protection4Kids’ project took place in Busunju, in the Mityana district, at Amber Junior School, a community school and orphanage that welcomes more than 70 boys and girls aged 3 to 12, orphaned or coming from situations of extreme poverty.
The school stands in an area marked by severe shortages of essential services: limited access to drinking water, intermittent electricity and insufficient educational resources. These conditions put the children’s health and the continuity of their schooling at risk.
Shelter, protection and education
Protection4Kids’ mission was carried out to address the severe lack of essential services that threatens the health, safety and right to education of the children at Amber Junior School. After speaking directly with the teachers and assessing the needs of the school and the community on the ground, a number of urgent needs emerged: food, electricity, school materials and child protection. In response, the team secured two months of food supplies, installed a generator to provide the school with electricity, supplied textbooks to every child and delivered dedicated child protection training to the teachers, covering topics such as abuse, violence, AIDS and disability.
